Introducing Wong Fei Hung (WFH)...the new addition to our family. WFH is a Betta splendens or commonly known as a fighting fish (hence, the name WFH).
I was never fond of fishes and i don't see how cute they can be or how functional they are as a family pet (ie..jaga rumah or enhance kids' psychomotor skills or by simply being a friend like how dogs can). My past experiences with them were merely them being a prey on a platter. And that was it. Until recently when WFH came along (thanks to the sister), all that changed. I've been amused by it and fascinated at times with how responsive it can be.
Once, we decided to check out her fighting skills. We took a mirror, placed it at her and waited for her to show her true colours.What turned out was a complete bummer. All she did was; looked at the mirror, saw an enlarged fish, swam for her life and hid behind the waterweeds until we removed the mirror.
Since then, we realised, she's no fighter. WFH was scared of her own reflection.
